Telegram was the most downloaded non-gaming mobile app in January 2021

Telegram is a messaging app initially launched for Android and iOS in 2013. In January of this year, it bagged the title of the most downloaded non-gaming mobile app, with 63 million installs. 

The app download statistics for Android further reveal that TikTok follows closely, with nearly 62 million installs.
